Trump Backs Keegan Bradley as Ryder Cup Captain: What You Need to Know
Former President Donald Trump has publicly endorsed Keegan Bradley as the playing captain for the U.S. Ryder Cup Team. Sharing his thoughts on Truth Social, Trump expressed excitement about the upcoming tournament and revealed his plans to attend one of the Ryder Cup days.
"Keegan Bradley should DEFINITELY be on the American Ryder Cup Team – As Captain!!!" Trump stated. "He is an AMAZING guy. It will be a great Ryder Cup. At the invite of the PGA Tour, I will be there on Tournament Friday!!!"
Keegan Bradley, currently ranked No. 13 in the world, has an important decision ahead—whether or not to play during the tournament as captain. The last golfer to hold the dual role of playing captain was Arnold Palmer in 1963. Bradley previously secured his spot on the U.S. Team as captain but is now weighing his options following his victory at the Travelers Championship in June.
"I promise you we’re going to make the best decision for the team, and it’s going to be controversial either way," Bradley said during a press conference at the Tour Championship. "I’m ready for it. I know this is the biggest decision of my life."
On Tuesday, Bradley will announce his six captain’s picks, although he has kept his choices under wraps. He emphasized that his selections will not be influenced by the outcomes of the Tour Championship, viewing it as a culmination of a two-year journey rather than a last-minute decision.
Bradley, who was appointed captain in July 2024, has indicated that he would consider playing in the event if he qualifies. "To be honest, I feel like I’m still one of the best players in the world," he noted. "I figured the likelihood of being completely out of the picture was probably pretty slim. We’ve been preparing for this since then."
So far, six American players have already qualified: Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, J.J. Spaun, Russell Henley, Harris English, and Bryson DeChambeau.
