Sunrise Films Secures North American Distribution for "Bang Bang" – A Powerful Boxing Drama Starring Tim Blake Nelson
Sunrise Films is excited to announce that it has acquired the North American distribution rights for "Bang Bang," an emotionally gripping boxing drama featuring the talented Tim Blake Nelson. Directed, written, and produced by Vincent Grashaw, this compelling film is set in Detroit and delves into profound themes of family, legacy, and redemption within the vibrant boxing community.
Having garnered attention at prestigious film festivals such as Tribeca, Locarno, Deauville American Film Festival, and Oldenburg, "Bang Bang" tells the story of retired boxer Bernard “Bang Bang” Rozyski, portrayed by Nelson, who discovers a renewed sense of purpose as he trains his estranged grandson. However, as the narrative unfolds, doubts about Bang Bang’s true intentions emerge, especially from an old flame who witnessed his rise to fame and his intense rivalry with her cousin, Darnell Washington, now a candidate for mayor in Detroit.
The film boasts a talented ensemble cast, including Glenn Plummer from "Sons of Anarchy," Kevin Corrigan of "Goodfellas," Nina Arianda from "Tower Heist," Andrew Liner of "Vampire Academy," Erica Gimpel from "Criminal Minds," and Daniella Pineda of "The Vampire Diaries."
Andrew Nerger, Sunrise’s head of U.S. and international distribution, expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, “With ‘Bang Bang,’ we were captivated by a powerfully written story filled with emotionally rich characters. Vincent Grashaw has masterfully crafted a film that poses an intriguing question: What happens to a larger-than-life athlete when their career comes to an end? Tim Blake Nelson delivers one of the most potent performances of his already remarkable career.”
Sunrise Films, an international production and distribution company founded by Rupert Preston and Nigel Williams, is expanding its North American slate with notable titles such as "Mr. Blake at Your Service," featuring John Malkovich and Fanny Ardant, Nina Conti’s "Sunlight," and the BAFTA-nominated "Hoard," starring Joseph Quinn. The company also produced Philip Barantini’s "The Accused" for Netflix and George Amponsah’s theatrical release "Gassed Up."
Rupert Preston, CEO of Vertigo Releasing, has an impressive track record, producing over 25 films, including hits like "Bronson," "The Sweeney," and "Monsters." Meanwhile, Nigel Williams chairs both Vertigo Releasing and Protagonist Pictures.
"Bang Bang" is set for a limited theatrical release this fall, leading up to Sunrise’s upcoming sci-fi thriller "Another End," starring Gael García Bernal, Renate Reinsve, and Bérénice Bejo. Mark your calendars: "Bang Bang" will hit select U.S. theaters on September 12, 2025. Don’t miss this emotionally charged journey into the heart of boxing and family!
