Emmy Contenders Shine at 12th Annual Location Managers Guild International Awards
The 12th Annual Location Managers Guild International Awards took place Saturday evening at the Eli & Edythe Broad Stage in Santa Monica, California, celebrating outstanding achievements in film location management. Among this year’s winners were Emmy contenders "The Studio," "1923," and "The Penguin," showcasing the creativity and talent of location managers in the industry.
Highlights of the Evening
The prestigious Motion Picture Awards were awarded to "A Complete Unknown," filmed across New Jersey, and "Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning," which showcased stunning locations in England, Norway, South Africa, and Malta.
"The Studio" was brought to life in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, while the period drama "1923" was filmed in Texas and Montana. "The Penguin" captivated audiences with scenes shot in various New York City neighborhoods, including Harlem, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens, Chinatown, and Yonkers.
In the Outstanding Commercial category, "Orient Express: Artisan of Travel," filmed by Belmond, took home the top honor. The New Jersey Motion Picture & Television Commission was recognized with the Outstanding Film Commission Award for their work on "A Complete Unknown."
Hosted by actress and producer Rachael Harris, the ceremony also recognized international features, television shows, and commercials that creatively utilized filming locations to enhance storytelling.
Special Awards and Recognitions
Kevin Costner received the Eva Monley Award, honoring his remarkable contributions to cinema through films like "Dances with Wolves," "The Bodyguard," "Field of Dreams," and the acclaimed series "Yellowstone."
Make-A-Wish Greater Los Angeles was awarded the LMGI Humanitarian Award for its dedication to making a meaningful impact on children and their families by fulfilling heartfelt wishes. The award was presented by Don Pell and accepted by Aparna Pande, CEO of Make-A-Wish Greater Los Angeles.
The Lifetime Achievement Award was bestowed upon veteran location manager Ilt Jones, recognizing his exceptional work on blockbuster films such as "The Dark Knight Rises," "Inception," "Iron Man 3," "Kong: Skull Island," "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever," and the "Transformers" franchise. This honor was presented by producer Ian Bryce.
