During the recent “The Rookie” panel at San Diego Comic-Con, beloved actor Nathan Fillion received a special serenade from Zander Hawley, enchanting the audience in Ballroom 20. As the series gears up for its highly anticipated Season 8, Fillion and showrunner Alexi Hawley shared insights into the show’s remarkable success, which has captivated viewers across generations, including families and young teens.
“I have friends who are talented actors themselves, and they’re reaching out to me saying, ‘Hey, my daughter just turned 11, and she and her friends are obsessed with “The Rookie.” Can I arrange a birthday celebration with you?’ I truly cherish that,” Fillion expressed.
Hawley added, “Television, especially series with numerous episodes and characters you can deeply connect with, has become a comfort for many. With thousands of shows available, people tend to gravitate toward those they eagerly anticipate. Our show offers an escape, and I take that responsibility very seriously. While we do tackle serious themes and darker moments, our audience relies on us as a source of reassurance.”
The duo also teased exciting developments for the upcoming season, which is slated for release in 2026. A thrilling sizzle reel unveiled that the LAPD will be heading to Prague in the Season 8 premiere. The footage showcased both new and returning cast members, providing tantalizing hints about what lies ahead for John Nolan. “In the first episode, we take a trip to Prague, and John essentially becomes a James Bond character. We have an array of thrilling stories lined up for the cast this season,” Fillion revealed.
