Simon’s journey with CBS News began in 1996 when she joined as a researcher for “48 Hours.” She is no stranger to the “60 Minutes” legacy, as her father, Bob Simon, was a respected correspondent known for his deep understanding of foreign affairs.
Recently, “60 Minutes” has been at the center of significant headlines. Paramount Global recently agreed to a $16 million settlement with former President Donald Trump, related to what many legal experts considered a weak lawsuit stemming from an interview between “60 Minutes” correspondent Bill Whitaker and former U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris. This decision has sparked frustration among supporters of the program, who argue that it jeopardizes the integrity of a brand that has long been committed to holding power accountable and delivering independent journalism.

Before taking on the interim executive producer role in April, Simon served as the show’s executive editor for six seasons. Her extensive experience includes being a senior producer responsible for digital content and overseeing “60 Minutes Sports,” a monthly sports-focused edition that aired on Showtime. Joining the staff in 2000, Simon collaborated with correspondent Ed Bradley on various significant reports, including coverage of the 9/11 attacks, the Duke University lacrosse case, and a rare interview with Bob Dylan. Over the next decade, she produced segments for nearly all “60 Minutes” correspondents, including notable figures like Steve Kroft, Lesley Stahl, Scott Pelley, and Anderson Cooper.
