Could Spike Lee and Timothée Chalamet Team Up for a Movie?
Fans are accustomed to seeing Spike Lee and Timothée Chalamet sharing courtside seats at New York Knicks games, but could a cinematic collaboration be on the horizon? Recently, the Oscar-winning director clarified any misconceptions during his appearance on The Bill Simmons Podcast. He addressed the notion of rivalry with Chalamet over who is the ultimate Knicks fan, stating there’s absolutely “no beef” between them.
Host Bill Simmons remarked, “I feel Chalamet is in your territory a bit, and I want to make sure you’re good, because he’s become the signature Knicks fan.” Lee quickly dispelled any rumors of competition, saying, “There’s no rivalry and no competition at all.” In fact, he expressed a genuine interest in working with Chalamet on a film once their schedules align. “He’s a good guy, a true Knicks fan, and a fantastic actor. We’ve discussed the possibility of collaborating on a project once he has some time,” Lee shared, chuckling, “But that might be in the next four or five years.”
Interestingly, Lee revealed that their potential film would not be sports-related. Currently, Chalamet’s schedule is quite packed, as he gears up for a press tour for his upcoming movie Marty Supreme. He is also set to shoot James Mangold’s High Side and continue filming Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Three, which is slated for a December 2026 release.
On the flip side, Spike Lee is also busy promoting his latest film, Highest 2 Lowest, featuring Denzel Washington and Jeffrey Wright. Additionally, he is working on other exciting projects like Prince of Cats and Da Understudy.
As both artists juggle their impressive careers, fans can only hope for a future collaboration that brings together Lee’s storytelling prowess and Chalamet’s dynamic acting talent. Stay tuned for more updates on their potential partnership!
