Ringo Starr Ensures Authenticity in Upcoming Beatles Biopic

As theaters gear up for an exciting British Invasion with the much-anticipated Beatles cinematic event in 2028, Ringo Starr is working diligently to ensure the portrayal of the legendary band is both accurate and respectful. In April, Starr traveled to London for a crucial meeting with acclaimed director Sam Mendes to discuss the script for a new four-part biopic. This film, crafted by talented writers Jez Butterworth, Peter Straughan, and Jack Thorne, aims to encapsulate the essence of The Beatles.

During his conversation with The New York Times, Starr expressed concerns regarding the representation of his first marriage to Maureen Starkey Tigrett. He noted that while the script was well-written, it misrepresented their relationship. "He had a writer—very good writer, great reputation—but it had nothing to do with Maureen and me," Starr explained. "That’s not how we were. I’d say, ‘We would never do that.’” After discussions with Mendes, Starr is now satisfied with how his character is portrayed but remains curious about the ambitious plan to shoot all four films simultaneously. "But he’ll do what he’s doing, and I’ll send him peace and love,” he added optimistically.

Barry Keoghan, set to portray Ringo Starr, reflected on his memorable encounter with the legendary drummer, describing it as "absolutely lovely." Keoghan shared that Starr even played the drums for him, creating a moment of awe that he will never forget.

Sam Mendes, known for his cinematic prowess, will direct all installments of "The Beatles: A Four-Film Cinematic Event" through his production company, Neal Street Productions, in collaboration with Sony Pictures Entertainment. Each film will uniquely explore the band’s story from the perspective of its members. Joining Keoghan in the cast are Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, and Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, promising an extraordinary cinematic experience for fans worldwide.
