Cleveland Browns Rookie Quinshon Judkins Cleared of Charges: What You Need to Know
In a significant update, the Broward State Attorney’s Office has confirmed that prosecutors will not pursue charges against Quinshon Judkins, the rookie running back for the Cleveland Browns. This decision comes after a thorough review of the evidence related to a misdemeanor battery charge stemming from an incident in Florida.
Judkins, previously a standout player at Ohio State, faced allegations following an incident on July 7, just days before his arrest on July 12 in Fort Lauderdale. According to the police report, tensions arose when Judkins became upset over text messages exchanged by family members. The allegations included claims that he punched a woman in the chin while in a vehicle leaving Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. The woman reportedly sustained bruises on her thigh and arm.
However, the attorney’s office found several inconsistencies in the case. A memorandum obtained by ESPN revealed that while the woman presented photos showing her injuries, there were also videos from the same timeframe where no injuries were visible. Importantly, the incident was not captured on any surveillance footage, and there were no independent witnesses to corroborate the claims. The delayed reporting of the incident also raised questions about its credibility.
The memorandum stated, "For the reasons set forth above, there is no reasonable likelihood of conviction and this case is being declined." Consequently, Judkins has been cleared of any wrongdoing.
The NFL is currently monitoring the situation, though it remains under review by the league. Judkins was selected by the Browns in the second round of this year’s NFL Draft, but he has yet to sign a contract as his legal issues were being resolved.
