Peacemaker Season 2 Returns to HBO Max: Freddie Stroma’s Thoughts on New Superman Fans
As Peacemaker gears up for its highly anticipated Season 2 on HBO Max, concerns arise about attracting the right audience. Freddie Stroma, who portrays Vigilante/Adrian Chase, recently shared his thoughts on the potential influx of young Superman fans into this mature superhero series, which is now part of James Gunn’s reimagined DC Universe (DCU).
In an interview with Discussing Film, Stroma expressed his apprehension about younger viewers tuning in for the first time. “It’s a strange situation since we’re entering a new universe, but it doesn’t impact us as much,” he said. “With the recent release of Superman, I can’t help but wonder what younger audiences will think if they watch that first episode.”
Stroma continued, “It’s something that weighs on my mind with this universe shift. However, for us, it’s business as usual. We’re committed to our Peacemaker content, which leans heavily into R-rated themes.”
Superman made its North American digital debut on August 15, with Gunn emphasizing his desire for everyone, including those unable to visit theaters, to experience the film before Peacemaker returns this Friday to HBO Max.
In a teaser for upcoming episodes of Peacemaker, familiar faces from the Superman universe, such as Green Lantern/Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion), Hawkgirl/Kendra Saunders (Isabela Merced), and Maxwell Lord (Sean Gunn), make an appearance, setting the stage for Season 2.
Since taking the reins of DC Studios alongside Peter Safran in 2022, Gunn’s Superman marks the inaugural installment in a new DCU franchise that kicks off with the ‘Gods and Monsters’ phase. Fans can look forward to an exciting blend of storytelling as these beloved characters come together in this fresh take on the superhero genre.
