Riyad Mansour and Jonathan Miller Address UN Security Council Emergency Meeting
In a crucial emergency meeting of the UN Security Council held in New York, Riyad Mansour, the Permanent Observer of Palestine to the UN, and Jonathan Miller, the Deputy Permanent Representative for Israel to the UN, voiced their urgent concerns over the escalating conflict.
Mansour acknowledged the statements of support from fellow council members but emphasized that mere words were insufficient. "You have to act. You have to do something about it. You have to stop it," he urged his counterparts, calling for decisive action to address the ongoing crisis.
On the other hand, Miller urged the Security Council to concentrate its efforts on dismantling Hamas, stating that anything less would be viewed as "not urgency but hypocrisy." His comments highlight the need for a focused approach to the conflict.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended his government’s strategy to take control of Gaza City, asserting that this approach is the "best way" to bring an end to the war.
This meeting underscores the critical situation in the region and the urgent need for effective diplomatic interventions.
