Recently, during an interview with People magazine, Spiranac addressed the criticisms regarding her attire while playing golf. She emphasized the importance of self-expression, stating, "I just try to embrace who I am. My main message is to always do what you want to do and wear what you want to wear. For me, that means choosing outfits that are a bit more form-fitting and sexy, while also finding my own individual style."
Spiranac, a former top golfer for San Diego State University in the Mountain West Conference, opted for a different career path instead of going pro. Today, she has become one of the most-followed sports personalities on social media. In a past conversation with Sports Illustrated, she shared her background as a gymnast, where form-fitting attire was the norm. When she transitioned to golf, she couldn’t afford specialized golf apparel, so she opted for workout clothes instead.
"I started wearing tank tops and leggings, which sparked a significant backlash," she recalled. "People were upset about the lack of collars, claiming I was disrespecting the game and exposing my body."
Spiranac passionately defended her choices, saying, "I’m an athlete, and I feel comfortable in what I wear. I want young girls to feel proud of their bodies and not insecure about how they dress. They should celebrate their hard work in the gym and with their nutrition."
In July 2023, she highlighted the "hypocrisy" surrounding body image in sports. In a viral video, she pointed out how two shirtless baseball players received no negative feedback, contrasting that with the harsh criticism she often faces. "It’s interesting to see how different the reactions are when men show off their bodies," she posted on X. "No one calls them attention-seekers, yet women are quick to judge me. The hypocrisy is laughable."
In addition to her advocacy, Paige Spiranac is making headlines for her upcoming cameo in Happy Gilmore 2.
