Exciting News: “Physical 100” Set to Make Waves in Italy!
“Physical 100,” the groundbreaking Korean reality show that has captivated audiences worldwide by topping Netflix’s non-English global charts, is officially getting an Italian adaptation. This marks the first European version of the popular format, which has already seen successful adaptations in Asia and the USA.
The show is a thrilling survival competition featuring 100 contestants, including both professional athletes and everyday challengers, who will face an array of quests designed to test their strength, endurance, agility, balance, and willpower. In a unique twist, contestants’ plaster casts of their torsos are dramatically smashed with a sledgehammer upon elimination, adding an intense visual element to the competition.
Netflix has revealed that the casting process for “Physical 100: Italy” was extensive and rigorous. Over 1,000 individuals were contacted, leading to 187 Zoom auditions that totaled a staggering 130 hours, followed by 137 in-person callbacks. The selected contestants, aged between 22 and 60, come from a diverse range of sports disciplines. They include triathletes, wrestlers, American football players, and participants in unique competitions such as Hyrox and Calcio Storico Fiorentino—a historical form of football that fuses soccer, rugby, and wrestling, rooted in 16th-century Florence.
This exciting project is curated by Roberta Briguglia, with Tommaso Marazza serving as the project lead. The talented writing team comprises Lorenzo Campagnari, Valerio Trapasso, Christian Monaco, Federica Riva, Antonio Moreno, and Barbara Strambi, all dedicated to bringing this thrilling adaptation to life.
The original season of “Physical 100,” which aired in 2023, featured an impressive lineup of Korean Olympians, professional fighters, bodybuilders, and former soldiers, and quickly climbed to the Netflix Top 10 in over 80 countries.
