Micah Richards Surprises Fans at Reading Festival to Support Former Teammate Joleon Lescott’s DJ Debut
Fans were taken aback when Micah Richards made a surprise appearance at the Reading Festival, showing his support for former Manchester City teammate Joleon Lescott as he embarked on his debut as a DJ. The retired footballer was spotted making his way to the front of the crowd, casually holding a bottle of Jagermeister and embracing two enthusiastic fans, one of whom proudly donned a Manchester City shirt.
As the excitement grew, one festival-goer couldn’t help but question Lescott’s unexpected career shift, exclaiming, "Wait a minute, Joleon Lescott is a DJ now?" The 43-year-old, who hung up his boots in 2017 after playing for Sunderland, has spent the last few years honing his DJ skills, showcasing impressive sets on social media.
Lescott, who shared the pitch with Richards at both Manchester City and Aston Villa, has also taken on coaching roles with the England under-21s and has provided insightful commentary during Champions League matches for TNT Sports. During an episode of Gary Lineker’s podcast, The Rest Is Football, Lescott revealed that pursuing a career in DJing has always been a significant aspiration for him. "Yeah, that’s a real ambition of mine," he shared. "I had some gigs this summer, but when a friend calls and asks, ‘Do you want to be part of the England setup?’ Well, that’s the closest feeling I have to actually playing."
Lescott’s father was a full-time DJ, making his performance at the Reading Festival a dream come true. During their time together at Manchester City, Richards and Lescott celebrated numerous victories, including two Premier League titles, an FA Cup, and a League Cup. While Lescott passionately pursues his DJ career alongside his punditry work, Richards continues to shine on television, regularly appearing on Sky Sports and the BBC’s Premier League coverage alongside football legends like Alan Shearer, Roy Keane, and Gary Neville.
