Mahershala Ali Shines at Jurassic World Rebirth Premiere While Discussing Blade’s Future

On Monday, Mahershala Ali graced the red carpet in New York City for the premiere of his exciting new film, Jurassic World Rebirth. The actor also took the opportunity to share insights about the long-awaited Marvel project, Blade, which has faced numerous challenges in its development.

Ali has been attached to the Blade project since 2019, but it has encountered significant delays, including the departure of two directors and the impact of recent actors’ and writers’ strikes. Additionally, changes in Disney’s studio strategy led to Blade being removed from the 2025 theatrical calendar entirely.

During the Jurassic World Rebirth premiere, Ali spoke with The Hollywood Reporter, saying, “I’m just taking it a day at a time. I’m doing the best work I can.” He mentioned his upcoming film, Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother, as a project that satisfied his desire for action and stunts. However, he expressed his enthusiasm for Blade, stating, “I would love for Blade to happen; we’ll see. I don’t know where Marvel is at right now. I’m just looking for the next great part, I really am.”

As for Jurassic World Rebirth, in which he stars alongside Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey, Ali reflected on the unique challenges of filming a blockbuster. “These types of films are so hard to shoot because of the way in which they’re made; you can film one scene across three countries over several months,” he explained. He added that while the process can be difficult and confusing, the most rewarding part is seeing the final product. “You have to trust that everything will come together, and the best part is actually completing it and witnessing what [director] Gareth [Edwards] was able to edit and create. He did a fantastic job in post-production.”

Jurassic World Rebirth is set to hit theaters on July 2.
