Colombian Winger Luis Diaz Shines in Bayern Munich Debut with Goal Against Stuttgart in German Supercup

In an exciting start to the German football season, Colombian winger Luis Diaz made a memorable competitive debut for Bayern Munich, scoring in a thrilling 2-1 victory over Stuttgart in the German Supercup. This prestigious match pits the reigning Bundesliga champions against the cup winners and was held for the first time since being renamed in honor of football legend Franz Beckenbauer, who sadly passed away in 2024.

Luis Diaz, who recently joined Bayern Munich from Liverpool, showcased his talent alongside star striker Harry Kane. The dynamic duo continued their impressive partnership, with Kane netting the opener just 18 minutes into the game. Despite being off-balance, Kane skillfully converted a pass from Michael Olise, sending a low shot into the bottom corner of the net—marking his 86th goal in just 97 appearances for the club.

Stuttgart, backed by a passionate crowd of 60,000 fans, pushed hard for an equalizer in the latter stages of the match. However, Bayern struck on a counterattack, with Diaz scoring his debut goal in the 77th minute. Celebrating his goal, Diaz paid tribute to his former Liverpool teammate, Diogo Jota, by mimicking his signature video-game celebration following Jota’s tragic passing in a car accident last July.

Stuttgart managed to pull one back in stoppage time through Jamie Leweling, but it wasn’t enough to change the outcome. This victory not only marks a successful start for Bayern Munich but also gives Harry Kane his second team trophy after winning the Bundesliga title last season.

Bayern Munich’s captain, Joshua Kimmich, expressed pride in his team’s performance, emphasizing the importance of the win in setting the tone for the upcoming season. “We wanted to show everyone that we’re here. Wins and titles are not a given – we have to appreciate them,” Kimmich stated in an interview with Germany’s Sat 1 network.

Looking ahead, Bayern Munich will kick off their Bundesliga campaign at home against Leipzig this Friday, while Stuttgart prepares to face Union Berlin in the German capital the following day.

Luis Diaz’s debut goal and celebration have already made waves, promising an exciting season ahead for both the player and his new club.
