LSU Freshman Running Back J.T. Lindsey Turns Himself In Amid Murder Charges Against Two Men

In a developing story from Baton Rouge, LSU Tigers freshman running back J.T. Lindsey has turned himself in to authorities following allegations that he provided shelter to two men wanted for murder. The Alexandria Police Department reports that Shemell Jacobs, 17, and Keldrick Jordan, 18, were both sought for armed robbery and second-degree murder charges in Louisiana. The U.S. Marshals Service apprehended the suspects at the LSU dormitories on Monday.

Lindsey, who was arrested on Friday on charges of being an accessory after the fact to second-degree murder, was released the same day on a $5,000 bond. According to an affidavit, Jacobs had Lindsey’s school ID and was able to use the football player’s PIN to gain access to the dorm. Surveillance footage shows the pair together dating back to July 24, as reported by WAFB-TV.

Lindsey’s attorney, Kris Perret, emphasized that Lindsey was unaware that Jacobs and Jordan were wanted for murder. Perret stated, “My client J.T. Lindsey has been arrested on allegations of ‘accessory after the fact’ for allowing two individuals, ages 17 and 18, who unbeknownst to him, were wanted in Alexandria, to stay at his LSU apartment for a couple of nights beginning on or around July 24.”

The attorney further clarified that the suspects were linked to a murder case involving a 17-year-old victim in May 2025. “There are no allegations that J.T. Lindsey was in any way involved in or connected to the alleged crimes of the arrested individuals,” Perret added. He assured that Lindsey is fully cooperating with law enforcement and would not have allowed the suspects into his home had he been aware of their criminal background.

At this time, Lindsey has been suspended from the LSU football team, and the university has stated it is aware of the situation but will not comment further to respect the ongoing legal proceedings. Despite the allegations, Lindsey remains listed on LSU’s roster as of Sunday.

J.T. Lindsey, originally from Alexandria, was a highly regarded four-star recruit in the Class of 2025 and one of two standout running backs who committed to LSU. His future with the team now hangs in the balance as the investigation continues.
