Universal Music Korea Signs Exclusive Deal with Lim Kim: A New Era in K-Pop
Universal Music Korea has officially signed an exclusive partnership with the talented singer-songwriter Lim Kim, further enhancing its impressive lineup of K-pop artists. This exciting addition comes as UMK continues to strengthen its presence in the competitive K-pop landscape, joining the ranks of notable artists like Dean, Heyoon, Okasian, and Bryan Chase.
Since her debut in 2011, Lim Kim has made waves in Korea’s music, fashion, and cultural scenes with her genre-blending sound and striking visual identity. She first captured the audience’s attention as part of the duo Togeworl, which achieved third place in the reality competition show “Superstar K3.” Lim Kim’s solo career took off in 2013 with her EP "A Voice," featuring the hit track “All Right,” which soared to the top of Korean music charts. That pivotal year saw her honored with Rookie of the Year accolades at prestigious events like the Golden Disc Awards, Melon Music Awards, and Gaon Chart K-pop Awards.
In 2019, Lim Kim underwent a dramatic artistic transformation with her single "Sal-Ki," embracing electronic and hip-hop influences that would shape her future projects. Her EP "Generasian" received widespread acclaim, winning Best Dance Electronic Album and Song at the 17th Korean Music Awards. The "Generasian" era also transcended music, as tracks “Yellow” and “Yo-Soul” were featured as mission songs on Mnet’s popular show “Street Woman Fighter 2” in 2023, with stunning choreography by 1Million Dance Studio. This collaboration is set to continue into 2024, with 1Million also choreographing her upcoming single “Ult.”
