John Leguizamo Calls Out Dean Cain Over ICE Agent Plans
John Leguizamo recently took to Instagram to share his thoughts on Dean Cain’s announcement about becoming an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent. In a candid video, Leguizamo questioned, “What kind of loser volunteers to be an ICE officer?” He continued with a jab, saying, “What a moron. Dean Cain, your pronouns are has/been.”
Dean Cain, best known for his role as Superman in the iconic ’90s series "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman," has been in the spotlight lately following the box office success of Warner Bros. and DC Studios’ "Superman." Riding the wave of renewed interest in his character, Cain has been vocal in the media, particularly criticizing director James Gunn for labeling Superman an “immigrant” and accusing Hollywood of pushing a “woke” agenda.
In a recent Fox News appearance, Cain expressed his intention to be sworn in as an ICE agent “ASAP.” He defended his decision, stating that the U.S. was built on the contributions of patriots and asserted that joining ICE was the “right thing” to do.
Leguizamo, a passionate advocate for Latino representation in Hollywood, has been vocal about the lack of diverse storytelling. In a 2020 interview with People magazine, he highlighted that Latinos make up nearly 20% of the U.S. population but are featured in less than 1% of Hollywood narratives. He emphasized the detrimental impact this has on children who do not see themselves positively reflected in media.
In a related note, Congress recently approved a significant increase in ICE funding, boosting its annual budget from $8 billion to approximately $28 billion, making it the highest-funded law enforcement agency in the federal government. Additionally, ICE has announced it will lift its age restrictions for applicants, previously set between the ages of 21 and 40.
