James Marsden Talks About His Exciting Return as Cyclops in Avengers: Doomsday
James Marsden is thrilled to step back into the role of Cyclops in the much-anticipated film Avengers: Doomsday. In a candid interview with Vanity Fair, the actor shared his thoughts on reprising this iconic superhero character. "I might be getting a bit older for the superhero costume," he joked. "But I’m genuinely excited to be part of something so massive."
Having spent two decades hearing fans ask, "When are you coming back?" Marsden reflected on his journey. "I’ve been gone for a while, and I joked about being dead. But now, here I am, ready to tackle the costume again—though it might be a bit of a struggle if they waited a few more years!”
Returning to the role that first launched his career is a significant moment for Marsden. "It’s been a wonderful homecoming. This character is an absolute icon in the comic book world, and stepping back into his shoes is incredibly special."
Marsden originally portrayed Cyclops in the X-Men films, including X-Men (2000), X2: X-Men United (2003), and X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), where his character met a tragic fate. However, he is not alone in this cinematic reunion; other beloved X-Men actors, such as Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), and Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), are also set to return in this exciting MCU installment.
