Hulk Hogan: Remembering a Legend in Pro Wrestling
The wrestling community is in mourning following the passing of iconic figure Hulk Hogan, who died at the age of 71 due to a potential cardiac arrest at his Florida home. Hogan’s impact on WWE and the broader world of sports entertainment is immeasurable; he played a pivotal role in bringing wrestling into mainstream pop culture.
In honor of Hogan, WWE held a heartfelt tribute featuring a 10-bell salute and a video montage that celebrated his illustrious career.
WWE Stars Reflect on Hogan’s Legacy
Ahead of her tag-team match with Charlotte Flair at SummerSlam, Alexa Bliss shared her thoughts on Hogan’s monumental influence in an interview with Fox News Digital. “He really paved the way for what we do today,” Bliss noted. “Thanks to his legacy in WWE, we’re now able to host massive events like this two-day SummerSlam. When you mention WWE, Hulk Hogan is one of the first names that comes to mind.”
Bliss reminisced about a memorable encounter with Hogan during WrestleMania, where she hosted the event. “We did a surprise entrance together, and it was such a blast. His impact on our industry is undeniable,” she said.
In a touching anecdote, Bliss recalled how her husband, singer Ryan Cabrera, had captured a video at WrestleMania 35 without realizing she was hosting the event. “He showed me the video of him with Hogan, saying, ‘Check out this cool video of Hulk Hogan!’ Little did he know, I was right there with him,” she laughed, adding that it was a special moment to share with her husband.
A Fond Farewell
Bliss expressed her condolences to Hogan’s family, acknowledging the significant void his passing leaves in the wrestling world. “It’s incredibly sad. He was such a larger-than-life character, and he truly paved the way for all of us in this business,” she reflected.
As Bliss prepares to compete with Flair against Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez for the tag-team titles at SummerSlam, she carries Hogan’s legacy forward in the ring. The highly anticipated event will take place over two days this weekend.
