Masked Burglars Target Harry Redknapp’s £5 Million Dorset Home
In a shocking incident last Friday evening, masked intruders armed with sledgehammers broke into the luxurious Dorset residence of former Premier League manager Harry Redknapp. The £5 million property, located near the popular Sandbanks area, was unoccupied at the time of the break-in. Security cameras captured the raiders as they forcefully smashed through the front door, searching the gated home for valuable items.
At the time of the burglary, the 78-year-old Redknapp was attending an event, while his wife, Sandra, was in London. A source close to the situation suggested that the crime appeared to be well-planned, stating, "It was clearly organized. The raiders must have known the house was empty." The thieves reportedly made off with valuable jewelry belonging to Sandra, along with other high-value items from the property.
Interestingly, it is believed that the intruders may have familiarized themselves with the home’s layout through online property listings, as the residence is currently listed for sale. This incident follows a similar break-in in May at the home of television interior designer Celia Sawyer, which was also on the market. A source indicated that the criminals likely surveilled the property prior to the burglary, explaining, "The criminals would only have to keep watch on the property and break in once the coast was clear, knowing the full layout of the house in advance."
Adding to the distress, Sandra Redknapp was receiving medical treatment in the hospital at the time of the break-in. ITV Racing presenter Matt Chapman mentioned during a broadcast that Harry would be watching his horse, King of Bears, from his hospital bed while Sandra was being treated. The timing of Sandra’s hospitalization came just one day before the burglary at their home.
The Redknapps moved to their current property in 2021, having previously lived in a contemporary house with expansive windows that lacked privacy. They are now in the process of constructing a new waterfront villa in Sandbanks while their current home remains on the market. Harry, who won the 2018 edition of I’m A Celebrity, is reportedly preparing for the upcoming All-Stars season of the reality show this autumn.
Regarding the burglary, a representative for Harry Redknapp commented to The Sun: "Harry doesn’t want to make a fuss. There was no one in the house at the time, and we don’t want to comment on what was taken. It’s a matter for the police." Dorset Police have confirmed that their investigation is ongoing as they search for the thieves who targeted this upscale property near Branksome Dene Beach in Poole.
Stay tuned for updates on this developing story, and let’s hope for a swift resolution to this unsettling incident.
