Experience the Magic of the Ehrlich Brothers: A Spectacular U.S. Tour
If you haven’t yet heard of Andreas and Christian Ehrlich, better known as the Ehrlich Brothers, prepare yourself for a magical experience like no other. This dynamic German duo is renowned for their unique blend of breathtaking illusions and heartfelt storytelling, captivating audiences in sold-out arenas that seat up to 10,000 people. In fact, their ticket sales in Germany have surpassed those of global superstars like Madonna and Justin Bieber. Thanks to a recent social media push by Andreas’ son, their international fanbase is rapidly growing.
Now, the Ehrlich Brothers are set to embark on their first-ever U.S. tour with their show, “Diamonds — The Mind-Blowing Magic Show,” kicking off on September 25. This is your chance to witness their incredible illusions up close, including mind-bending stunts like levitating and vanishing a gold Lamborghini, or making a motorcycle leap from a giant iPad screen right onto the stage.
Still skeptical? Consider this: attendees might leave the show with both candy and cash! “We create the world’s largest candy jar and share the goodies with the audience,” reveals Andreas. But Christian adds an even more enticing twist: “For 20 years, we’ve had a classic illusion where a spectator lends us some cash. We magically transform a small bill into a $100 bill and return it, ensuring that at least one lucky audience member leaves with more money than they came with!”
What else can you expect from the Ehrlich Brothers’ performance? “It’s a grand production filled with pyrotechnics and storytelling,” Christian explains. Each illusion is intricately tied to a narrative—like the giant candy jar, which represents a childhood dream. Andreas shares, “This is one of the biggest dreams one can have—to simply call out a wish and see it come to life.” Christian adds, “We aim to connect with our audience through the art of magic, much like a powerful song that resonates emotionally.”
The Ehrlich Brothers promise a show free from clichés. “We’ve never cut a girl in half or made someone vanish inside boxes,” Christian insists. “Our focus is on storytelling and delivering one astonishing illusion after another, making the two-hour show feel much shorter.”
The brothers spend years perfecting their illusions, with one new act they’ve been developing since 2019 set to debut next year. They’ve evolved from crafting small tricks in their father’s workshop to employing a team of 40 dedicated professionals who help bring their grand visions to life. Andreas acknowledges that the brainstorming process involves a mix of creativity and practicality, with only about 5% of their ideas making it to the stage.
Of course, with great illusions come great risks. Earlier this year, during a rehearsal, Andreas’ hair caught fire when he got too close to a flamethrower, and a video of the incident circulated online, prompting the brothers to joke about his “new hairstyle.” In a previous stunt mishap, Andreas broke his ribs. Yet, both times, they carried on with their performances.
It’s amusing to note that the brothers consider their U.S. shows to be “smaller,” as they’ll be performing in theaters that seat around 4,000, compared to their usual venues of 10,000 seats. They plan to downsize their usual 30 trucks to just six for this tour. “We need to streamline because we have so many of our own illusions back home,” Chris explains, especially since some illusions, like their Angel of Death act, weigh around five tons.
The Ehrlich Brothers have enchanted audiences worldwide, and they were inspired to tour the U.S. after receiving consistent feedback that their show would resonate with American audiences. “We’ve always wondered if our show is distinctly German or if it has international appeal,” says Christian. “So many people from the U.S. encouraged us to come, saying it would be an unforgettable experience. We’re excited to share our magic with everyone!”
The 10-city tour kicks off in Washington, D.C., and will make stops in Pittsburgh, Newark, Las Vegas, San Jose, Phoenix, Anaheim, San Diego, Tucson, and Arlington, Texas. The brothers will even have the opportunity to explore the sights, as a German TV crew will be documenting their journey. When asked if they plan to visit Disneyland during their time in L.A., Chris humorously quips, “We’ll make it disappear, so everyone comes to our show for just one day!”
One city they’re particularly excited about is Las Vegas. “It will be a pleasure to meet some of our colleagues and check out other shows,” Christian notes, though he expresses disappointment at missing the Backstreet Boys. “I’m a big fan!”
