In a recent interview, Gal Gadot shared her thoughts on the disappointing box office performance of Disney’s live-action adaptation of Snow White, attributing it to the “pressure on celebrities to speak out against Israel.” During her appearance on the Israeli celebrity talk show The A Talks, Gadot discussed her experiences while filming the movie, which also stars Rachel Zegler.

“First and foremost, I truly enjoyed making this film,” Gadot expressed in Hebrew, as reported by The Jerusalem Post. When asked about her collaboration with Zegler, she added, “I had a wonderful time working with Rachel. We laughed, we connected, and it was an enjoyable experience. I genuinely believed this film would be a major success.”

Gadot, who served in the Israeli Defense Forces for two years, including during the 2006 Israel-Lebanon war, faced backlash in 2017 when Lebanon banned her film Wonder Woman due to her military service. Meanwhile, Zegler has been an outspoken advocate for Palestine and Gaza, a stance that reportedly created tension with Snow White’s producer, Marc Platt, during the film’s promotional activities.

Reflecting on the film’s struggles, Gadot stated, “Then October 7 happened, and there’s significant pressure on celebrities across various industries, including Hollywood, to take a stand against Israel.” She emphasized her willingness to provide context about the ongoing situation, noting, “In the end, people will form their own opinions. I was disappointed to see how much this affected the film’s performance at the box office.”

The humanitarian situation in Gaza has drawn attention from leading organizations such as the UN Special Committee, Amnesty International, and Doctors Without Borders, which have reported on the dire conditions faced by the Palestinian population. A May 2025 IPC analysis forecasted severe food insecurity in Gaza, predicting that at least half a million people could reach catastrophic levels of malnutrition.

In recent months, Gadot has encountered protests related to her projects. In late May, five demonstrators were arrested for targeting the London set of her upcoming film, The Runner. Additionally, her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony faced delays due to protests from both pro-Palestine and pro-Israel groups. Ultimately, Disney recorded a staggering estimated loss of $115 million on Snow White, highlighting the film’s troubled release amidst these complex issues.
