Tragic Car Accident Claims Lives of UK Family on Holiday in Portugal
In a heartbreaking incident, four members of a UK family lost their lives in a car crash while vacationing in Portugal. Domingos Serrano, 55, Maria Serrano, 51, and their twin sons, Domingos and Afonso, both aged 20, tragically died when their vehicle collided with another car in Castro Verde, located in southern Portugal. The Municipal Council of Mourão confirmed the details of the accident, which also claimed the lives of two others: a 19-year-old girlfriend of one of the twins and the 26-year-old driver of the other vehicle.
The Serrano family, who resided in Thetford, Norwich, were not British nationals, as reported by Sky News. They were traveling from Faro to Mourão for what was described as their "usual and well-deserved vacation." In light of this tragedy, the authorities in Mourão declared two days of mourning. They expressed their condolences, stating, "It is with great regret that the Municipality announces this information, offering its condolences to the families and friends of the victims."
The local community in Thetford is in shock over the loss. Thetford Town Youth Football Club, where the twin brothers played, paid tribute to the family on Facebook. "Thetford Town Football Club extends its heartfelt condolences to the Serrano family and the local Portuguese community following this tragic event," the post read. "Afonso and Domingos were integral members of our U18 team in recent years, and their untimely passing, along with their parents and friend, has left a massive void in our community."
As the investigation into the accident continues, the community mourns the loss of this beloved family.
