Carl Jenkinson Suffers Severe Leg Injury in Pre-Season Match Against Millwall

In a distressing turn of events, former Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson was stretchered off the pitch during Bromley’s pre-season match against Millwall on Saturday evening. The 33-year-old footballer sustained a severe leg injury during the 68th minute of the friendly match, requiring immediate medical attention, including gas and air treatment, after a collision while attempting to stop a Millwall winger’s advance.

The incident unfolded dramatically on the Hayes Lane turf when Jenkinson extended his leg to intercept the opposing player. Unfortunately, the impact caused him significant pain, leaving him writhing on the ground. Medical staff quickly rushed to his aid as he signaled for help from the bench.

Witnesses described the scene as concerning, with Jenkinson remaining on the pitch and gesturing urgently for assistance following the collision, which occurred during the build-up to Millwall’s second goal of the evening. The match was interrupted for an extended period as paramedics worked diligently to assess and manage his injury.

As the situation unfolded, it became clear that the injury was serious. Paramedics administered gas and air to alleviate his pain before carefully placing him onto a stretcher for transport off the field. The medical emergency resulted in a significant pause in the game, leading to ten additional minutes being added at the end of the match.

In a show of support, Bromley Football Club tweeted their well-wishes for Jenkinson, stating: "Carl Jenkinson is stretchered off following a lengthy spell receiving treatment on the pitch. We’re all wishing you a speedy recovery, Jenko."

The match concluded with Millwall securing a 2-1 victory, though Bromley managed to score a consolation goal during the extended injury time. Jenkinson joined Bromley in September of last year, making 13 appearances in his first season, and the club announced a contract extension in April, although the specifics were not disclosed.

Throughout his career, Jenkinson has played for several prominent clubs, including Arsenal, West Ham, Nottingham Forest, and Charlton Athletic. He earned one cap for the England national team in 2012, making a notable appearance against Sweden.

As fans and teammates rally around Carl Jenkinson during this challenging time, we all hope for his swift and full recovery.
