Listen to Fox News Articles: Barstool Sports Founder Dave Portnoy’s Bold Take on the Kansas City Chiefs

In a recent social media post, Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy made headlines with his bold statement about the Kansas City Chiefs and their future in the NFL. The comments come amid the buzz surrounding Chiefs star Travis Kelce, who has been in the spotlight lately due to his media appearances and his relationship with pop superstar Taylor Swift.

Travis Kelce, along with his brother Jason, announced that Taylor Swift would be featured on their podcast. Following this news, Kelce also graced the pages of GQ Magazine, further elevating his profile. In response to these developments, Portnoy took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his skepticism about the Chiefs’ dynasty, declaring it "cooked."

He quoted boxing legend Marvin Hagler, saying, "It’s tough to get out of bed to do roadwork at 5 a.m. when you’re sleeping in silk pajamas," implying that the Chiefs may have become complacent. Portnoy’s assertion that the Chiefs had a "cute run" but were laughably incomparable to the New England Patriots’ legendary dynasty has sparked conversations among fans and analysts alike.

Portnoy, who is set to appear on FOX Sports’ "Big Noon Kickoff" this college football season, joins a chorus of critics questioning the Chiefs’ dominance in the league. In response to this criticism, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid defended his team during an appearance on "Up & Adams." Reid noted the team’s ability to win close games, stating, "You understand because there were so many close games, but that’s the National Football League. I was proud of the guys and how they handled those one-score games."

Kelce himself acknowledged in the GQ interview that the increased attention from his celebrity status has affected his on-field performance. Early in the 2024 season, he faced criticism for not meeting his usual production levels. "I think it might have slipped a little bit because I did have a little bit more focus in trying to set myself up," Kelce admitted. "I never want the product to tail off, and I feel like these past two years haven’t been to my standard. I just have such a motivation to show up this year for my guys."

As the Chiefs prepare for the 2025 regular season, all eyes will be on whether they can silence the critics and reclaim their status as a dominant force in the NFL.
