NASCAR Driver Connor Zilisch Faces Injury After Victory Celebration at Watkins Glen

In an unexpected turn of events, NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Connor Zilisch experienced a fall while celebrating his impressive victory at Watkins Glen International in New York on August 9, 2025. This win marked his sixth triumph of the 2025 season.

During the celebration, Zilisch climbed atop his No. 88 Registix Chevrolet to soak in the moment. However, his excitement took a dangerous turn when his left foot became entangled in the driver’s side window netting, causing him to slip and fall onto the asphalt.

In a heartfelt message on social media, Zilisch revealed he suffered a broken collarbone from the incident. "Thank you, everyone, for reaching out today," he posted. "I’m out of the hospital and already feeling better. I’m grateful for the quick attention from the medics, and I’m thankful it wasn’t worse."

After the fall, Trackhouse Racing made the decision to withdraw Zilisch from the NASCAR Cup Series race scheduled for Sunday at Watkins Glen. His next appearance in the Xfinity Series is set for August 22 at Daytona International Speedway.

This isn’t the first challenge Zilisch has faced this season. Earlier, he missed a race at Texas Motor Speedway due to a back injury sustained during a crash at Talladega Superspeedway. Since his return, he has shown remarkable resilience, achieving 11 consecutive top-five finishes and winning four out of his last five races.

Currently, at just 19 years old, Zilisch is leading the drivers’ standings by seven points over Justin Allgaier, with an impressive record of 12 top-five finishes and 14 top-10 finishes this season.
