Exciting Changes at Amazon MGM Studios in the Nordics: Emilia Widstrand Steps In
Amazon MGM Studios is undergoing a significant transformation in the Nordics as Emilia Widstrand takes over from Karin Lindström as the head of Nordic Originals. Lindström is transitioning to a new opportunity outside of Amazon, marking the end of her impactful tenure since joining the team in 2021.
Tara Erer, the head of Northern Europe Originals, announced this leadership change in a recent internal message to staff. "Our beloved Karin Lindström has decided to step down from her role as head of Nordic Originals to pursue new opportunities," Erer stated. "Karin has been instrumental in building our team from the ground up. Her remarkable creative instincts, exceptional leadership, and contagious positivity have made her an invaluable asset."
Erer expressed gratitude for Lindström’s dedication to Amazon MGM Studios, highlighting her contributions to popular shows such as LOL: Last One Laughing, Roast on the Coast, and the upcoming titles Snake Killer and Vaka.
With a sense of excitement, Erer introduced Emilia Widstrand as the new leader of the Nordic team. Widstrand, who has been with Amazon for nearly four years, has contributed to projects like Blindspot and Vaka. "Emilia’s innovative vision and leadership skills are set to elevate our Nordic slate to new heights," Erer remarked.
The Nordic region plays a vital role in Amazon MGM’s strategy, especially as the company has restructured its European operations in recent years. Last year, Amazon MGM Studios divided Europe into two clusters, directing new investments toward "emerging" territories, including the Nordics, while scaling back funding for regions like Africa and MENA.
