Aaron Rodgers and DK Metcalf’s Unique Dorm Life: Toilet Etiquette at Steelers Training Camp
Aaron Rodgers is known for his dedication to getting a good night’s sleep, and it seems that this has led to an unusual bathroom rule for his roommate, DK Metcalf, during their stay at Saint Vincent College for the Pittsburgh Steelers training camp. The camp kicked off earlier this week, offering both players a chance to bond off the field while navigating some quirky living arrangements.
Metcalf, a wide receiver for the Steelers, shared with Yahoo Sports that the dorm setup includes a shared bathroom, which comes with its own set of challenges. “The toilet is super loud,” he admitted, explaining that Rodgers requested, “If we need to go at night, just don’t flush the toilet.” To which Metcalf humorously agreed, saying, “All right, bet.”
However, on Wednesday night, Metcalf felt the call of nature and decided to check in with Rodgers via text: “You asleep yet?” When Rodgers confirmed he was still awake, Metcalf took matters into his own hands and flushed anyway, saying, “I’m about to flush the toilet.”
Despite the unconventional bathroom rules, it seems that Rodgers is enjoying dorm life. After practice on Thursday, he expressed his satisfaction with the arrangement. “I’m on the first floor here, which is a good start,” he said. “I got DK as my suitemate, so we’re sharing a toilet and a shower. But I love this idea, this opportunity to be out here and to stay here and connect with the guys.”
Rodgers, a four-time league MVP, mentioned he was relieved to be paired with Metcalf, jokingly adding that he “was secretly kind of hoping it wasn’t a big lineman or something, maybe somebody that cared about their hygiene a little bit.”
As training camp progresses, Rodgers is focused on improving his game, even if it means dealing with some hiccups along the way. He opened camp with an interception on his first pass but remains optimistic. “There’s going to be picks, for sure. I’m going to try to fit certain things in. You gotta deal with some sweat on the ball from time to time,” he explained. “But I’m looking forward to the challenge of throwing in this heat every single day. I’m going to throw some picks, but I’m also going to throw some touchdowns.”
Looking ahead, Rodgers believes that there are about 10 to 12 teams with a legitimate shot at winning the Super Bowl this season, and he feels that the Steelers are among them— at least "on paper."
