Listen Up: Boston Sports Radio Hosts Blast Aaron Rodgers Over Retirement Announcement
Boston sports radio hosts recently expressed their strong opinions about Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers after he revealed that the 2025 season might be his last. This announcement came during an interview on "The Pat McAfee Show," sparking a heated discussion among WEEI Radio’s Greg Hill, Courtney Cox, and Chris Curtis.
On "The Greg Hill Show," the trio criticized Rodgers for seemingly turning his potential final season into a farewell tour. Hill didn’t hold back, stating, "It’s a bit of a d—– move. Training camp hasn’t even started, and he’s already declaring this as his last year. He wants fans to ask him about it in every city he visits. It’s over the top."
Cox echoed these sentiments, expressing concern that Rodgers’ looming retirement would overshadow the team’s focus on winning. "Give me a break with the ‘I just wanted to do this for fun’ narrative. It’s clear he wants the spotlight on his retirement," she stated. "This is all about making it a farewell tour. It reeks of egotism and narcissism."
Despite her criticisms, Cox admitted she might feel differently if the situation involved another star athlete, saying, "If it were Tom Brady, I’d probably love it. But since it’s Aaron Rodgers, it just rubs me the wrong way."
Curtis joined in, labeling Rodgers as "loathsome" and lamenting the decision to bring him to Pittsburgh. "It’s beneath the Steelers to welcome him. It’s pathetic, and I hate that Coach Mike Tomlin is on board with it. He’s not the player he used to be."
In response to his critics, Rodgers has vowed to give his all for the Steelers in what he calls his final season. "I’m going to empty the tank for the Steelers and be comfortable with whatever happens," he said. "The chance to play in Pittsburgh, under Coach Tomlin, and be part of such a storied franchise is a dream come true."
